The Sombrero galaxy is 50,000 light-years across, brighter than 400 billion suns and 50 million light years away! Is it any wonder that the light of this galaxy inspired the birth of a flower from within? The translucence of the petals, the luminescence of the scarlet center, the fireworks of the golden stamen, the power of the pistil—they simply flowed out of the strength of this brilliant light! Always I could see wings in this painting. Even the petals of the flower seemed feathery, more like wings than petals! But it wasn’t until the very end that I saw the glimmer of a dove, hovering on the wing. Only then was the vision of this painting complete. Truly— a benediction!
